Two days after Chinese male weightlifter Long Qingquan established a world record with a 307 kg lift, a female Chinese weightlifter got the gold medal in the 63 kg category while breaking two records in only five lifts.

Deng Wei, on her fifth lift, reached a total of 262 kg and broke two world records in jerk and total, both by one kilo, reported China Daily. Her victories are not surprising because Deng was world champion in 2014 and 2015.

With a four-kilo buffer in the snatch at the start of the clean and jerk competition, she jerked 138 kg on first attempt, already bagging the gold medal as she reached a total of 253 kg.

The silver medal went to South Korea’s Choe Hyo Sim with 248 kg and the bronze to Kazakhstan Karina Goricheva with 243 kg. Taipei’s Lin Tzu-chi, who is also a favorite to bag medals, was provisionally banned from competing on the eve due to an abnormality in her urine sample.

Lin Tzu-chi’s provisional ban prevented the London Olympics record holder from duplicating or surpassing her record. Maiya Maneza, from Kazakhstan and the defending champion, also missed the event because she also failed a drug test. Likewise disallowed were two of the top four contenders in the 2015 world championships, also for doping-related reasons, reported NBCOlympics.
