Joey Logano Wins Daytona 500

The Daytona 500 did not end well for the four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon as he finished in the 33rd place after he wrecked his car on the last lap of the race. After the smoke settles, the 24-year-ol Joey Logano won the 57th annual Daytona 500.

The highlight of the race however was the minor wreck that ruined the chances of the number 24 car driven by Gordon. The first half of the race was going well for Gordon who led 87 times during the first 110 laps. The car appears to be in well condition and the handling was excellent.

However, Gordon's crew was surprised after the driver sent a radio message saying, "It's going to get wild now, but that's what we came for."

The second half of the race did not go as planned for Gordon. He lost the lead after succeeding restarts and was never able to regain pole position after that. The pole position was battled out by Logano who drives for Team Penske, Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Logano would later won the race to earn his first ever Daytona 500 victory.

As the game progresses, Gordon fell to the 12th position but was able to race back to the fifth spot. The race did not end well for him when he was caught in a multicar crash during the final lap and caused him to finish the race in the 33rd- place, according to Sporting News.

During the post-race interview Gordon said, "It is disappointing because things were going so well, especially that first half. The first half was amazing."

Gordon has four Sprint Cup championship titles wins under his belt which he won in 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2001, according to ESPN.
