"Scandal" season 6 won't premiere anytime soon, but ABC President Channing Dungey already has some information from episode 1.

While at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, Dungey confirmed that he has already read the script for episode 1 and it has similarities to the earlier seasons of the hit ABC series.

"It was the fifth season this year. Long-running shows, there's always a little bit of ebb and flow. We have read the script for the new season and it's fantastic. It feels very much like a return to form," he said.

Meanwhile, there are ongoing rumors that "Scandal" will be cancelled after season 6. Dungey slammed the rumor by saying that they haven't discussed anything in relation to the fate of the Kerry Washington starrer.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes recently spoke with "Good Morning America" host Lara Spencer to say that Olivia Pope (Washington) will most likely end up with either President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) or Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) in the finale.

Rhimes stressed that it's all just ideas as of now, but at the end of the day she knows that Olivia will never be dependent on a man.

"She never had to actually be a wife. She never actually had to be truly emotionally available. She never actually had to do any of the icky stuff that you have to do when you're in a relationship," she said.

Following Rhimes' interview, Spencer mistakenly claimed that the exec confirmed that "Scandal" will be cancelled after season 6. Rhimes slammed the report by quoting "GMA."

Immediately after, Spencer apologized to Rhimes and said that she's still a big "Scandal" fan and will always be a Gladiator. The latter term refers to Olivia's team which is made up of Quinn (Katie Lowes), Huck (Guillermo Diaz) and Marcus (Cornelius Smith Jr.).

"Scandal" season 6 will premiere on ABC sometime next year.
