In the Season 5 finale, Quinn was believed to be dead. However, showrunner Alex Gansa confirmed that Quinn is returning in "Homeland" Season 6 as a completely different character. He declined to elaborate about Quinn's transformation, but he teased that viewers could also expect some changes in his relationship with Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes).

"Quinn is alive," TVLine quoted Gansa as saying at the TCA summer press tour on Aug. 11, Thursday. He suffered a major stroke last season... so he is a very changed and altered Quinn this year."

When it comes to "Homeland" Season 6 premiere, Showtime President David Nevin announced that the next season will return on January 15, 2017. The production will start next week in New York City after the last season was seen in Europe. The creator also hinted that the upcoming season will have a timeline between the Election Day and Inauguration Day, and that viewers will find out who will be the next president.

The next season will also see Carrie's relationship with Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) and the CIA. She will remain at odds with Saul, but their bond will remain strong. Carrie is not yet returning to the CIA, and instead she will be working as an advocate for Muslims in New York.

Danes, who also appeared at the TCA admitted that Carrie's bipolar disorder will somehow improve next season. She also teased that Carrie seemed to have a bigger agenda which she still has to reveal in "Homeland" Season 6.

Regarding the fate of the "Prisoners of War" spin-off, Nevins confirmed that the show was renewed for three more seasons.  In a post-panel interview, Gansa left a major cliffhanger about the show's fate after Season 6.

"We asked ourselves how many years can we keep this going and keep the quality up?" Variety quoted Gansa as saying. "We said seven or eight seasons sounded about right."
