Did China’s ban on South Korean celebrities impact “Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki? Or is it because his last show ended in mid-April and the next movie, “Battleship Island” is still being filmed?

Soompi reported on Monday that the brand power rankings for Korean actors, prepared by the Korean Business Research Institute, was released. Actor Goo Yoo topped the list with 7.7 million, followed by Ha Jung Woo and Song Joong-ki.

Conducted between July 11 and Aug. 12, the survey uses 76.5 million pieces of data which are measures of brand participation, media coverage, communication and community. A representative of the institute explained the big changes to the success of the movie “Train to Busan,” featuring Gong Yoo, while Ha Jung Woo has the film “Tunnel” to thank for overtaking Song Joong-ki.

Other Korean actors in the top 10 are: Lee Byung Hun, Park Hae Il, Hwang Jung Min, Lee Jung Jae, Song Hye Kyo, Kim Soo Hyun and Cha Seung Won.

The two main actors of “Descendants of the Sun” have a chance to boost their brand power again with the nomination of the 16-episode series for the Hallyu Drama award on Sept. 8 at the Seoul International Drama Awards ceremony at KBS hall. Song Joong-ki and Song Hye Kyo are confirmed to be attending the event, reported Inquisitr.
