Ragnar Lothbrok has done it all. From his humble beginnings as a farmer to his meteoric rise as King of Denmark, the hero of "Vikings" has gone through every trial and tribulation imaginable, and managed to overcome them. Given all that he has accomplished, is the sun ready to set on Ragnar's story on "Vikings" Season 4?

With the introduction of Ragnar's now grown-up sons, there's a theory that Ragnar's reign is coming to an end and he will soon be succeeded by one of his children. How this will happen exactly is still up in the air, but "Vikings" creator Michael Hirst has consistently said that Ragnar's story is far from ending.

"This is, and always has been, the story of Ragnar and his sons. I was very anxious of the sons to be there, present, right at the end of the episode," Hirst told Entertainment Weekly. "We can look forward to following them. But Ragnar's story isn't over by any means."

Even with Hirst's assurances, some of the show's fans are still convinced that Ragnar will soon step aside and a new king will be declared in "Vikings" Season 4.

One of the popular theories depicting Ragnar's fall in "Vikings" Season 4 is that he would be betrayed by Floki. If Norse lore were to be followed, it's possible Floki might sell out Ragnar to King Aelle of Northumbria, where he will die inside a pit of snakes. Ragnar's death will motivate his sons roll out the Great Heathen Army to avenge their father.

In the show, tension between Ragnar and Floki grew after the later killed Athelstan, whom Ragnar considered a good friend. According to Screen Rant, Ragnar's feelings for Floki will soften in "Vikings" Season 4 and it will have profound effects on Floki's life.

"Floki is now going through very deep and profound changes, and reevaluating his life, his relationships, and this will continue. This is a very big thread in the story moving forward," Hirst said about Floki's development.

However Floki and Ragnar's relationship turn out in the new season, fans can rest assure that it won't be the last they're seeing Ragnar.

Episode 11 of "Vikings" Season 4 will air on History this fall.
