Blizzard is reportedly planning a free Overwatch trial for everyone after data miners have dug up information from the recent PTR with codes pertaining to the speculated event.

Overwatch is currently one of the hottest first person shooters to date and the hype is still high. Blizzard could be planning to give interested users a taste of what they can do in the game by conducting a free trial period based on the data mined by some fans.

There have been several strings spotted from the Overwatch PTR and all of them contain the word trial. One string states: "Sorry, the Overwatch Free Trial is not available at this time," PC Gamer has learned.

Another statement states: "Not available for trial," which could mean that there are certain characters that will be limited to fully paid Overwatch players. Maps could also be limited as well so that not every game mode or map will be full of trolls just coasting on the free trial.

Overwatch season 2 could also have the new Overwatch Free Trial along with new icons for rank tiers, Overpwn reported. The ranks are for players who are diving into the competitive mode which will rank players according to their skill level number.

Blizzard's choice to conduct the Overwatch Free Trial could make sense considering that they have already done so with their other games in the past. It would be a good way of attracting new players to the game and they could even throw a promo discount for those who came from the free trial.

The company has not yet commented on the speculations. Given that the basis was their codes, it highly suggests that it could indeed be true and it would only be a matter of time before Blizzard officially announces the Overwatch Free Trial period.

Still, interested players should not get their hopes up so soon. The announcement will still need to be made by Blizzard and it should be confirmed first but their silence can also mean that the Overwatch Free Trial mode is indeed true and it is coming in a matter of days or weeks.
