A battery life test conducted on the Exynos and Snapdragon chipset variants of the Galaxy Note 7 have revealed that it offers improved battery performance over its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 5.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 comes in two chipsets versions. One is powered by Samsung Exynos 8890 chipset and the other one is fueled by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. Both the models feature 3,500 mAh batteries.

The Galaxy Note 7 has been launched to replace the Galaxy Note 5 that features a 3,000 mAh battery. The Galaxy Note 5 was released in one CPU variant of Exynos 7420. The Galaxy S7 Edge that was released earlier this year is powered by a larger battery of 3,600 mAh capacity

Galaxy Note 7 Talk Time Test

The Galaxy Note 7 powered by Exynos chip produced a talk time of 23:45 whereas the Snapdragon model delivered a talk time of 20:48 hours.

The two models of Galaxy S7 Edge powered by Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 chipsets scored 24:29 and 22:32 hours, respectively. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is capable of delivering a talk time of 28:34 hours.

Galaxy Note 7 Web Browsing Test

When it comes to continuous web browsing, the Exynos and Snapdragon variants of Galaxy Note 7 scored 11:08 and 9:25 hours, respectively.

The Exynos and Snapdragon models of Galaxy S7 Edge scored 13:32 and 10:09 hours. The Galaxy Note 5 delivered continuous web browsing time of 10:43 hours.

Galaxy Note 7 Video Playback Test

In the continuous video playback test, the Exynos Galaxy Note 7 scored 16:46 hours and its Snapdragon variant recorded a score of 15:23 hours.

The Galaxy S7 Edge's Exynos and Snapdragon models scored 20:08 and 16:54 hours, respectively. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 lasted for 13:51 hours on video playback test.

Conclusion

The battery performance tests on Samsung Galaxy Note 7 variants revealed that the Exynos variant delivered 10 to 20 percent battery performance than the Snapdragon model. The battery life tests on both the models revealed that Exynos and Snapdragon SoC models recorded endurance scores of 90 hours and 81 hours, respectively.

However, when the Always-on screen feature was enabled, the endurance score of both models went down to 59 hours and 55 hours, respectively. The aforementioned tests were carried by GSM Arena. It concluded by stating that buyers who are looking for a Galaxy flagship with longer battery life should go for Galaxy S7 Edge.

Samsung has officially confirmed that it will be releasing the Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy Note 7 in two to three months, Korea Times reported. The new software is expected to improve the battery life of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
