Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 could be a farther down the long road as they are currently developing two more large titles before they start to work on the Skyrim sequel.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is highly anticipated by Bethesda fans after the critical success of Skyrim which paved the way for thousands of mods for the PC. Even the Fallout 4 game was also a success but the company seems to be holding off longer than expected before making a follow up.

Bethesda's Pete Hines did say that The Elder Scrolls 6 is part of their wish list for development but he also confirmed that the game should not be expected to be out in the next two years or so, iTechPost has learned. Hines address the speculations of the game coming out in 2017 and flat out said that fans should not expect it even in 2018 as they have not started on the development yet.

The game developer is currently busy developing new games such as the disappointing Prey which is claimed to be something entirely new and not related to the earlier Prey games. There are also claims of a new Fallout game as Bethesda reportedly filed a trademark for "Fallout New Orleans."

Bethesda could be working on two to three more large games before they eventually start to develop The Elder Scrolls 6, Gamenguide reported. The games that will be developed first have not been disclosed by the company but it is expected to be unveiled in the following months considering that the second half of 2016 has already started.

For those who cannot wait two more years for a new Elder Scrolls game, Bethesda is set to launch The Elder Scrolls Legends on mobile platforms and the PC. Elder Scrolls Legends is a spinoff mobile card game that is based on the game's lore and universe.

The Elder Scrolls 6 release date is still far off and fans should just start to expect development of the game after 2018 as Bethesda confirmed. There might be teasers launched but the actual game itself is not yet in development.
