Apple is pending its release on MacBook Air 2016 with upgraded processor, graphics and other hardware improvements, although recent reports indicate underwhelming updates emanating from the Air line.

BGR reports that while many have noticed leaks hinting at Apple's future flagship devices, particularly a new MacBook Pro, a new Apple Watch, and even the new iPhone 7, a single update of a MacBook Air online is not showing popularity.

The report claims that the MacBook Air is slowly being phased out as it hasn't been properly updated in years, with rumors saying that Apple will be focusing on MacBook Pro 2016. More so, the 11-inch MacBook Air is said to have been surpassed by the appearance of new Retina MacBook, while the 13-inch version is spotted to have a close price while it also shows an inferior display compared to the 13-inch MacBook Pro..

"This wasn't the MacBook Air, but instead leaped past the Air," said Jan Dawson, chief analyst at Jackdaw Research. "They kept the MacBook Air around just as they do with older iPhones, but the MacBook is now in the same position as the newest iPhone. That makes me wonder if the Air will go away over time."

According to Vine Report, although there are circulating rumors with the continuing delay for Air, it is predicted to produce a significant refresh in 2016, with claims that the laptops will have Touch ID fingerprint recognition, as well as the addition of Siri.

More so, the new MacBook Air laptops are seen to be more portable and flexible through its thinner and lighter hardware compare to other current models, equipped with new batteries, cooling systems, Intel Skylake processors and USB-C ports. It is also suggested that the iPad Pro's Apple Pencil may soon be revamped to make it compatible with the MacBook Air.

As for the price, the 13-inch MacBook Air is estimated to cost $980, while the 15-inch model is said to cost around $1,100. The new laptops are expected to be announced sometime this fall by Apple.
