Pop star Mariah Carey's estranged sister Alison Carey has been arrested on prostitution charges in upstate New York on Aug. 26, Friday. The 55-year-old was reportedly caught by police in an undercover investigation at an unidentified Saugerties hotel.
According to the report from Daily Freeman, Saugerties police was tipped off by a series of advertisements that Alison had been placing in the adult section of an unnamed website. She even used the lyrics from her sister's 1995 hit number "Fantasy" in her listing.
On being arrested, Alison told police she was related to the star, who is known as one of the richest women in entertainment industry. The singer's sister, who has been described as "transient" in the police report, has been working out of the hotel for about a week.
Alison was arraigned in Saugerties Town Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail. She is due in Saugerties Town Court on Aug. 30, Tuesday.
The singer's sister was known to be HIV positive and had even asked her for monetary support from Mariah multipe times in the past. Police have advised to whomever who had sex with Alison to seek medical attention immediately. She had admitedly worked as a prostitute in New York City before Mariah became famous, in order to clothe her family.
Mariah and Alison reportedly had been estranged for years. The relationship once again came to the forefront earlier this year when their brother, Morgan Carey, publicly called out the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" singer an "evil witch" who does not help any member of her family.
Apart from struggling with HIV, she was also fighting with drug addiction and was reportedly left with brain and spine injuries after a devastating home invasion attack in April 2015. On the other hand, Mariah's rep continued to claim that the singer has always supported her family.
"Through the years, Mariah has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars supporting Alison and her children," the pop star's rep told Daily Mail. "In fact, Mariah has supported her extended family for over two decades."
