Speculations have it these devices will be marketed as first smartphones manufactured by Google even though previous rumors have stated that HTC is marking both the phones. However, like the Google Pixel C, Google will be mainly responsible for the industrial design of Pixel and Pixel XL and the Taiwanese company is nothing but a manufacturing partner.

It is still not confirmed that Nexus lineup is dead. There is no successor coming for Nexus Player. The Google Pixel C is the latest tablet from the company. None of the recent products from Google bears Nexus moniker. Hence, the future seems bleak for the Nexus branding.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL Launch Date

On Aug. 1, Droid Life had predicted that Google that the Nexus 2016 launch date would be Oct. 4. Citing a dependable source, Android Police has also confirmed that Google would be announcing new phones on Oct. 4. As mentioned above, these phones are likely to be branded as Pixel and Pixel XL.

The Google Pixel will be a bit less expensive smartphone that would be featuring a 5-inch screen. It is codenamed as Sailfish. The Google Pixel XL will be a larger device with premium features and it is expected to come with a 5.5-inch screen. It is codenamed as Marlin.

The Snapdragon 820 SoC is expected to power Pixel phone with 3 GB of RAM whereas the Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4 GB of RAM is speculated to fuel Pixel XL. The former is pegged to come with a 2,770 mAh battery whereas the larger phone is rumored to arrive with a 3,450 mAh battery.

Apart from Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, Google is also expected to unveil a 4K Chromecast, a Daydream View device and reveal details on Google Home on Oct. 4
