According to The Variety, Paget Brewster will reprise her role as SSA Emily Prentiss in the return of "Criminal Minds" Season 12.

Paget Brewsters' promotion as a series regular comes barely two weeks after actor Thomas Gibson was fired. Following this, "Criminal Minds" Season 12 will see a lot of casting changes. With the loss of two major roles, Aisha Tyler and Adam Rodriguez have been added as new series regulars, too, in the "Criminal Minds" Season 12. Matthew Gray Gubler, Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook and Kirsten are all set to reprise their roles and Thomas Gibson will still be seen in a couple of episodes.

Gibson was one of the original cast members of the show where he played one of the main characters, Aaron Hotchner. He was fired after an altercation with one of the show's writers.

Brewster first joined the show on its second season and stayed until the 10th. She reappeared in season 11 for the show's 200th episode.

In an interview, actress Kirsten Vangsness, who plays Penelope Garcia, shared her thoughts on Brewster's return. She said that the new season need more hands on deck after what happened at the end of last season. Brewster's effort will assist in capturing all of the bad guys that escaped from prison, Parade reported. Vangsness also spoke about Gibson's exit and said they are still trying to figure it out.

Meanwhile, photos from the first episode of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 are emerging online. Titled "The Crimson King," Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) is first seen as the new agent of BAU who will help the BAU with his skills while talking to Hotch (Thomas Gibson). They might be tackling how to capture the 13 fugitives that escaped in the last season, as per TV Fanatic.

Also seen is David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) having a serious conversation with the team as they are all preparing to find the renegades.

"Criminal Minds" season 12 is set tol premiere on Sept. 28 on CBS.
