South Korean actor Song Joong-Ki and Shin Min-Ah have been confirmed to attend this year's Seoul Drama Awards. The two actors star in the KBS 2TV drama, "Descendants of the Sun" and "Oh My Venus," respectively.
Both Song and Shin will attend as a representative for Korean actors in the upcoming Seoul Drama Awards, Soompi reported. The annual event will take place on Sept. 8, Thursday, at the KBS broadcasting station in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea.
According to the organizing committee of the event, the two stars have contributed to the growth of the K-culture both locally and internationally. As such, it cemented their invitation the annual Seoul Drama Awards.
The "Innocent Man" actor became a household name after portraying Captain Yoo Si-jin (aka Big Boss) in "Descendants of the Sun." The drama, which aired from Feb. 24 to April 14, was a major hit in South Korea and received immense popularity across Asia.
Due to its unique plot and A-list cast members, the drama created the so-called "DOTS syndrome" around the world. Following the drama, Song held several fan meetings in Seoul, Beijing, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Taipei.
"My Girlfriend Is a Nine-Tailed Fox" actress, on the other hand, received praise for her role in "Oh My Venus." In the 16-episode drama, Shin transformed into an overweight lawyer, Kang Joo-Eun, who looks help in losing weight from a fitness trainer, John Kim (So Ji-Sub).
"From the beginning, I wanted to make sure that [my character] was not a stereotypical fat girl," Shin told local news outlet OSEN in November 2015, as cited by Drama Fever. "I wanted to show her as a fool, but in a realistic way. Thankfully, thanks to the special effects make-up this was able to come out naturally."
The red carpet at this year's Seoul Drama Awards will start at 4:00 PM KST, while the awards ceremony will begin at 5:30 PM KST. Check out KBS 2TV's "Descendants of the Sun" below:
