The "Definitive Edition" of "Metal Gear Solid 5" is confirmed for launching on October 11. On the other hand, "Mission 51" which was perceived by fans as the conclusion for the series has been confirmed by Konami as cancelled and will not be part of the continuation of the story.

When "Metal Gear" creator Hideo Kojima parted ways with Konami, the latter had the opportunity to be more independent with the franchise, thus releasing a "definitive edition" for "Metal Gear Solid V." The company also announced they will soon be launching another Metal Gear game entitled "Metal Gear Survive."

Despite the continuation of the franchise, numerous fans have still asked whether "Mission 51" is still up for grabs. Konami has responded to the queries saying that particular chapter was never intended to be released and was even cancelled long before "Phantom Pain" was launched, Destructoid reported.

"Mission 51" was supposed to be a prequel to "Metal Gear," the first installment of the MGS series released in 1987. Konami already clarified that the much-anticipated "Mission 51" will not be the conclusion to "Phantom Pain" and was neither missing in the first place, the report added.

Meanwhile, the "Definitive Edition" will provide a link to two separate prologues of "MGSV: Ground Zeroes" with "Phantom Pain," GMA News reported. All DLC content of both games are expected to be available in the upcoming installment.

The same report provided an overview of "Metal Gear Solid V" that took place mid 1970's continuing the complicated backstory of a guerilla named "Big Boss." The story begins with "Ground Zeroes" where main protagonist Snake is deployed to a rescue mission at Cuba. Series of unfortunate events happened and his whole army was destroyed by an unknown adversary.

The story was continued by "Phantom Pain" where Snake re-surfaces as "Venom Snake" nine years after the incident happened. In this chapter, Snake will take revenge on those people who made his live miserable by rebuilding his army and taking on new missions.

The "Definitive Edition" of "Metal Gear Solid V" will be launched on Oct. 11 for PS4, Xbox One and PC using Steam. The collection is priced at around $49.99
