The Apple iPhone 7 has been officially announced to replace the iPhone 6S from last year. Here is a comparison between the two on the basis of their specs, features and price.
Design and Display
The iPhone 7 appears quite similar to the iPhone 6S, but it comes with couple of improvements in its design. The antenna bands are now placed on its upper and lower edges and 3.5 mm audio jack has been axed. It is the first smartphone from Apple to come with IP67 certified water and dust resistant body.
The iPhone 6S comes in color choices like Space Gray, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold. The iPhone 7 is also available in same color variants except for Space Gray. It also comes in new color options like Jet Black and Black.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S both feature 4.7-inch screens that support a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels. The 3D Touch display feature of iPhone 6S is also present on iPhone 7, The Verge reported.
Chipset, RAM and Storage
The iPhone 7 is powered by the new Apple A10 chipset and 2 GB of RAM. The iPhone 6S has Apple A9 SoC and 2 GB RAM inside it.
The iPhone 7 is not available in storage options of 16 GB and 64 GB. Hence, customers are provided with storage choices like 32 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. The iPhone 6S comes in storage variants like 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.
Camera, Software and Fingerprint Reader
The iPhone 7 features an enhanced rear camera of . Its 5-megapixel facing camera is equipped with an LED flash. The iPhone 6S has a 12-megapixel rear camera and a selfie shooter of 5-megapixel.
The iPhone 6S arrived with iOS 9 and the all new iPhone 7 is preloaded with iOS 10. Both the smartphones feature fingerprint reader embedded under their Home buttons. The iPhone 7 has a force-sensitive Home button that is equipped with Taptic Engine that clicks back at user.
Battery and Price
The iPhone 6S is packed with a 1,715 mAh battery. Even though Apple did not reveal did not on the battery of iPhone 7, speculations indicate that it includes a battery of 1,960 mAh capacity.
The lowest storage configuration model of iPhone 7 will sell for $649, Arts Technica reported. With the iPhone 7 release, the iPhone 6S is expected to be available with discounted pricing.
