The iPhone 7/ 7 Plus has been unveiled and looking out for unforeseen accidents may be the next thing in mind. The AppleCare+ program does cost a total of $129 for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus but the tempting part is obviously the $29 fee covering iPhone screen displays.
Previously, iPhone owners were charged $79 for two accidents, except for the iPhone 6s which was priced at $99, Apple Insider reported. All other accidents covering the iPhone will be charged $99.
While the $29 pitch seems pretty sweet, the fact is that there are certain things to be considered from the fine print. That includes shelling out $158 in total for the first screen repair before enjoying the $29 for the next iPhone screen display issue, Gizmodo reported.
Also, there is something iPhone owners will need to be wary of. The policy states that the iPhone 7/ 7 Plus should have no additional damage (i.e. bent). Hence, anything found beyond the screen display could nix any warranty covered.
Hence, there are a lot of loose ends for the AppleCare+ program. The $29 deal can only be availed if you pay upfront the full $129 fee. The $29 fee takes effect only on the second accident which technically makes it a one-time deal with a catch.
With those on the table, the question now is should iPhone buyers sign up and take the AppleCare+ program? The revisions seem pretty tricky with that $29 part gaining interest. Hence, folks who may want to enroll should extensively read the fine print first before proceeding.
Hence, it may all boil down to how careful iPhone owners are. Though that is no assurance from eventual damage/s, it could be a wiser choice depending on how they handle their device.
Alternatively, iPhone owners could resort to an ‘as needed’ basis. With no clear way to figure when an iPhone would get damaged, having it fixed when the time arises is possible. The cost to do so will be expensive but seems more plausible than paying for something that may not necessarily happen.
