"Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will be a no-show at the Tokyo Game Show 2016. It is rumored that Square Enix is planning to release the game in the distant future.

Reports are rife that the game publisher decided not to include "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" in its lineup at the imminent Tokyo Game Show 2016 because the title will not release anytime soon. While Square Enix is yet to unveil the release date for the remake, it is believed that the current games schedule place the release for "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" in late 2017.

The publisher has already released the list for the Tokyo Game Show 2016. Square Enix listed on its official website some big game installments like "Final Fantasy XV" and "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue."

Other titles to be displayed at the trade show include the new "Deus Ex; Mankind Divided" sequel and the new "Hitman" game. The latter is significant since it is confirmed that "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will follow the release format of "Hitman." As opposed to one full-version release, the remake will come out as a multi-part game, each launch coming out as post-launch episodes.

It is also important to note that "Kingdom Hearts 3" is not on the list. This may imply that the new game and "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" are scheduled for the later part of 2017 and beyond. The publisher will then have other massive trade shows in future to announce the games, most notably the E3 2017 slated for June 13-15.

Meanwhile, game producer Yoshinori Kitase had an interview with Game Informer, shedding more light on what the battle system will finally look like. He hinted that "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" has not completely adopted a more action-oriented style, adding that it may end up featuring one that draws inspiration from "Dissidia" games. Even if the remake does not completely transform into a full action game, aficionados will likely be excited to learn that the old Active Time Battle has been ditched.

Tokyo Game Show 2016 is scheduled for Sept. 15-18, with Square Enix set to live stream the events in the last two days. Here is footage for further information:
