Khalifa's video has about 2.02 billion views, with the number rising rapidly as social media is spreading the news. The comments section of the video is also flooded with users congratulating the artist for the milestone. The rapper tweeted a cell phone message that brought him the news.

The South Korean hip hop sensation Psy is no longer alone in the 2 billion milestone though he still beats Khalifa in total playbacks with 2.6 billion, Digital Music News reported. "See You Again" also spent about 12 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was nominated for three Grammys - Song of the Year, Best Song Written for Visual Media and Best Pop Duo / Group Performance.

Khalifa's song, however, lost to Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud." Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" took the Best Pop Duo Grammy and "Glory" by Common and John Legend was awarded Best Song Written for Visual Media. "See You Again" did win Teen Choice Awards for Choice R&B/Hip-Hop Song, Choice Song from a Movie or TV show and Choice Collaboration.

Khalifa's most viewed single was released in March 2015 as the official song of blockbuster "Fast and Furious 7." The soundtrack features the franchise' star Paul Walker who died in a tragic car accident before the film was released.

Currently trailing Khalifa's single are "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars with 1.82 billion views and "Sorry" by Justin Bieber which hits 1.79 billion. The other two that complete the top five most viewed music videos on YouTube are "Blank Space" by Taylor Swift (1.75 billion) and "Hello" by Adele (1.71 billion), The Independent reported.

Meanwhile, Khalifa has been in the news lately when ex-wife, model Amber Rose invited him to be her "rebound" lover after an unpleasant threesome experience. The rapper rejected the invite which triggered a bit of a Twitter fight with Rose which he later apologized for.
