The launch date of "The Last Guardian" has been pushed to early December due to another delay. Sony's president asks the gaming community to forgive them for the latest delay.
Sony president Shuhei Yoshida wrote on the official website of PlayStation that their upcoming adventure video game will be delayed again. It will be launched on Dec. 6 due to the game publishers' decision. He also said that the development team is approaching major milestones in production.
Yoshida said that gen DESIGN Fumito Ueda and JAPAN Studio has a great vision for the video game's journey. It will have a touching and emotional journey of friendship and trust. They also wanted to deliver the most polished experience possible for their fans that have supported them for so long.
The Sony president revealed that delaying a video game is a difficult decision, particularly with this one. They delayed it due to their encounters of several bugs than they have anticipated while in its final stages of development.
Yoshida said that they want to ensure that it delivers the best experience that the game creators have envisioned. They wanted their fans to enjoy the experience without having several issues when playing it. They wanted the take the extra time to work on those issues right away.
The game developers will be continuing their development of the game, said Yoshida. He revealed that there will be new content when it is launched. He also said thanks to the continued support that the fans have given to them.
This is not the first time that this video game has gotten delays. The development stage started way back in 2007, which was a year after the PlayStation 3 was launched.
The video game was stuck in development for the next seven years. The game publisher re-announced the game for the PlayStation 4 at E3 2015.
Writer Ollie Barder wrote on Forbes that small delays are fine and understandable and should be encouraged to properly release a game. Longer delays that span several years could indicate that there are some issues within the production itself. He is concerned that it required another delay even after seven years of development.
