The director Rajkumar Hirani has confirmed that the sequel of ''3 Idiots'' is on its way; however, one of the main casts of the prequel Boman Irani does not have any idea about the upcoming sequel.

According to the latest update on NDTV Movie news, Irani, who played the role of a strict dean of the prestigious Imperial College of Engineering, Dr. Viru Sahastrabuddhe in the 2009 movie ''3 Idiots'' mentioned that the director Hirani is busy with another movie and he does not have any information about the sequel coming up. Does this imply that Irani will not reprise his role in the upcoming sequel?

"Yes, everything is a great franchise but I've no idea about this talk, never heard it myself. I am hearing it for the first time. Right now, Raju is working on another film. So no, nothing like that as of now," Irani told PTI.

Currently the 56 year old veteran actor is busy with the pre-production work of a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt. He is the brand ambassador of the room and car freshener Ambi Pur and was addressing media during an event of this product.

Recently it was reported that the protagonist of the prequel ''3 Idiots'' Aamir Khan was extremely interested with the announcement of the unnamed sequel of the movie ''3 Ididots.'' According to Can India News, Khan is in talk with the director Hirani for the sequel of this blockbuster movie, and might sign the contract soon. Since last year there were several reports about Hirani thinking about making a sequel, but the plot is not yet ready. Hence the casting was not done as it will depend on the plot; however, the fans can safely imagine the three main characters reprising their roles again. The sequel will not have the same flavour if Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan are not present in the movie.

Now in other news, it came up that Sunny Leone is extremely interested to work with Khan in a movie. There were rumors that Leone might do the role of Khan's love interest in the sequel, the role which was played by Kareena Kapoor in the prequel. Kapoor played the role of Dean Dr. Sahastrabuddhe's daughter Pia Sahastrabuddhe who was a doctor in the making.

She was in love with the character of Khan Ranchoddas "Rancho" Shamaldas Chanchad's AKA Rancho, however, due to the class difference, Rancho never proposed to Pia in the movie. Pia was getting married to a groom chosen by her father Suhas Tandon (played by Olivier Sanjay Lafont). From the marriage hall or mandap, the friends of Rancho abduct her to get her married to Rancho. The movie ended there with the revelation of the actual name of Rancho as Phunsukh Wangdu who was working as a school teacher in a small hilly town.

However, Wangdu is also a renowned scientist and there are a lot of MNCs which want to work with him as he has 400 patents to his name. So it is possible that the plot will start from where the first movie ended and can show the married life of Khan's character now.

In the beginning of the year, Khan Tweeted in Leone's support when she was harassed by a TV journalist due to her past profession in the adult industry. "I can't express in words how happy I am. It was a very sweet and amazing gesture by him because as actors we all live in a bubble. He took his phone out and expressed his opinion... He supported me and it's a great feeling," Sunny told PTI in an interview.

Irani won a Filmfare Award for best supporting actor for his performance in this movie. So if he is to reprise in the sequel, then there are chances of him getting more awards.
