Chapter 502 spoilers: Eileen still looking for the fairy heart inside Mavis' body, Gajeel reuniting with Levy, DiMaria torturing Lucy and Zera finding her way back to a long-lost friend in the upcoming chapter of Fairy Tail.
-Eillen continues to search for the fairy heart, which is by far the most powerful of the three fairy powers Mavis possesses. Looking on is her former lover Zeref, who is shown to have another personality apart from his current cold-hearted persona.
This alter-ego appears to care about Mavis current situation. I believe this particular scene proves that Zeref still has redeeming qualities that can be exploited in the succeeding battles.
-Mavis suddenly liquefies. It's still unknown if it's because of Eileen's magic or the Fairy Tail founder really meant to be in liquid state, thus preventing Zeref and Spriggan 12 from gaining the fairy heart.
-Tortured soul: Lucy, on other hand, appears to be in a very bad situation. It looks like the celestial mage eventually succumbs to DiMaria's overwhelming power. She seems to be taking a lot of torture from the Spriggan 12 mage, who accused her of brainwashing her friend Brandish.
-Reunion: Gajeel finally reunites with Levy and his exceed cat Panther Lilly after he was transported into Tenrou Island by Bradman (Bloodman) in their previous battle.
At last, Zera 'swims' his way back to Mavis, reuniting the two friends after so many years of wait. If you haven't followed Fairy Tail spin-off Fairy Tail: Zero, Zera is Mavis' childhood friend.
Although she already died years before Mavis met Zeref and the other founding members of Fairy Tail in Tenrou Island, Mavis' powerful illusion magic kept Zera's spirit alive until he was informed by Yuri Dreyar the truth about Zera.
I have a feeling that Zera isn't just an old friend trying to lift the spirit of Mavis at this adverse time. I believe that Zera is no other than the Fairy Heart, Zeref and his Spriggan 12 mages are looking for all alone. The power that can help defeat Acnologia once and for all.
