Top 7 Torrenting, KickassTorrents (KAT) and Torrentz Alternatives Listed by TorrentHound after Shutting Down

This week, the torrenting world lost another key player when TorrentHound.com decided to close shop. The move, reports said, appears voluntary and largely in the same manner that popular meta-search engine Torrentz.eu went out. But prior to its exit, TorrentHound left a list that contains torrenting alternatives and described as "not terrible places left for torrents." 

Here are the torrent sites that for now are best alternatives to KickassTorrents, Torrentz.eu and TorrentHound:

TorrentProject.se

In functions and features, TorrentProject closely resembles that of Torrentz and true enough the site advertises itself as "a clean, fast and accurate BitTorrent search engine," that indexes close to 10 million of active torrents. Users will find that searching via TorrentProject will point them to contents hosted by The Pirate Bay and hundreds of other torrenting or free download destinations.

And among its menu of services is free streaming that is quite similar to what TPB and KAT offer.

First established in 2004, YourBittorrent was a partnership originally known as myBittorrent but a split in 2009 led to its current name. The site has made a name for itself with verified torrents and an integrated subtitle search engine for its free movie and television show contents. Users searching for adult entertainment also list YourBittorrent as among their preferred sources.

As of June 2016, TorrentDownloads is part of the top 10 torrenting sites and is fast gaining traction with site features identical to KickassTorrents' operations. The site attracts millions of visitors each month and many were former KAT and Torrentz users, which explains TorrentDownloads' increasing visibility in the torrenting scene.

RARBG first went live as a torrent tracker operating from Bulgaria. The site is now in the top five torrent list following the demise of both KickassTorrents and Torrentz.

Also inside of the top five torrents circle is 1337x and its current status is also due to KAT and Torrentz going blank. The site was reported to have been dealing with internal strife and was last heard collaborating with TorrentDownloads for technical support.

ExtraTorrent.cc

Touted as a solid and possibly the best alternative to both KickassTorrents and Torrentz.eu, ExtraTorrent is now the second most popular torrent destination. TorrentFreak reported that since KAT and Torrentz went down, ExtraTorrent saw traffic spikes of more than 100 percent. The site was given an Alexa ranking of 342 before the shutting down of KAT and Torrentz, somehow indicating that the ranking is significantly higher at this time.

ThePirateBay.org

The Pirate Bay became the largest file-sharing website in 2009 but ceded the post to KickassTorrents following an extended downtime that started in December 2014. With KAT out of the picture and possibly never coming back, TPB is again the King of Torrents that boasts of hosting millions of active torrents that are safe from malware, spam and child porn contents.

TPB further added millions of daily visitors to its already exploding website traffic, which perhaps is the most solid proof that at present it is the safest torrenting destination and at the same time the best alternative to KickassTorrents and Torrentz as affirmed by TorrentHound before exiting the torrent scene.
