Michael Schumacher's lawyer has denied claims in a Germany's court that the former Formula 1 world champion can walk again. Felix Damm was detailing the extent of Schumacher's injuries in a court case against a German magazine, Bunte. The formula 1 driver still remains unable to walk almost three after a serious skiing injury despite the magazines' allegations last Christmas that the champion could walk again.

According to BBC News, The family's lawayer, Mr Damm, said that Schumacher, 47, "cannot walk" more than two and a half years after the accident. Damm confirmed that it was untrue and Schumacher still could not lift his arm as they proceed with attempts to claim between EUR40,000 ($A59,312) and EUR100,000 ($A148,280) from the publication.

Bunte's report is said to have quoted an undisclosed friend of Schumacher's who claimed: "Michael is very thin, but he can walk once again a little with the help of his therapists. He manages to make a few steps. And he can also raise an arm." The original report last December featured a picture of Schumacher with cover headline "He can walk again".

At the time, Sabine Kehm, Schumacher's agent released a statement denying the claims and said it was unfortunate for them to be forced by the recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true. Kehm added that such speculation was irresponsible, because his privacy is very important given the seriousness of his injuries. "Unfortunately they also give false hopes to many people."

Back in February, Kehm noetd to be hopeful that Schumacher "will be here again one day" after reports that his recovery has worsened. A verdict in the court case against Bunte is expected next month, The Guardian reported.

Schumacher's family has kept his health condition under wraps with little been revealed the world champion's health recovery since December 2013. Schumacher suffered a head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps. He was placed in a medically induced coma for six months before being taken to his Switzerland home to continue with his treatment.

The recent news is the first public update on Schumacher's health since his former boss at Ferrari, Luca di Montezemolo said: "I have news though it is not good," adding that life is strange as Schumacher was a great driver who only had one accident with Ferrari in 1999.
