"Hawaii-0" Season 7 episode 1 has been alleged to be titled "Makaukau 'oe e Pa'ani" which is Hawaiian for "Ready to Play." In a synopsis revealed for the first episode, McGarrett refuses to hear Danny's (Scott Caan) plea to take it easy when two serial killers' bodies are found on Five-0 premises with chess pieces in their mouths. This makes McGarrett together with the team to hunt for a vigilante as fear of tourists' insecurity in Hawaii grows.

In the "Hawaii-o" Season 6 finale, McGarrett was injured during his undercover mission with Danny, later on, the team learned that he needed a new liver. Therefore, his comeback in action so soon after the incident might be a way to make him cope with his near-death experience in the episode.

During the finale, Danny offered his liver to McGarrett arguing that the two have same blood group. The two were revealed to be alright after undergoing the transplant surgery.

Peter M. Lenkov shared a preview of where McGarrett ends in Season 7, noting that the character begins the season "sort of questioning his mortality and the choices he has made." The showrunner told TV Line that there is an arc about Danny trying to get McGarrett to slow down for a while and appreciate the fact that he has been given a second chance.

Lenkov added that apart from McGarrett, the rest in the team will be more mature in "Hawaii-o" Season 7 as they contemplate of making some changes to their lives. While McGarrett keep wondering if everything he has done for the last six years costs him all the good things in life, Kono (Grace Park) will be asking herself if she is ready to settle and start a family.

"Hawaii Five-0" will debut on Friday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
