Is trouble on the way for Enzo and Bonnie's relationship in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8? The last time viewers saw Enzo was when he was somewhat possessed by the mysterious creature he and Damon encountered in the vault. Will this cause a problem for the couple?

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will show Enzo and Damon on a killing spree, and it will be up to their friends to save their souls and bring back their humanity. Speaking to Showbiz Junkies, actor Michael Malarkey revealed that Enzo is trying to fight back the new "supreme evil" that's taking over his being.

"We will find out why and what they're driven by and it's something to do with this new supreme evil that has been lurking in the vault, that has escaped the vault," Malarkey teased. "Enzo, however, is kind of grappling with this a bit more, he's fighting it a bit more than Damon and how we start the season is seeing the whole relationship with Damon and Enzo and this creature, you can call it."

But why is Enzo fighting the creature harder than Damon in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8? It could be because Damon was possessed earlier than Enzo or because Enzo knows he must fight because of Bonnie.

Malarkey previously revealed in an interview that he's been leaving Bonnie clues in order to help them. Coincidentally, the latest trailer for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 shows Stefan telling Bonnie that they should follow every possible clue that could lead them to Damon and Enzo.

There's a good chance Bonnie could be Enzo's saving grace. After all, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 showed how good they work together as a couple.

"On a very archaic level, she brings out the good in him and he brings out the bad in her - in a good way. We've seen them being feisty with each other, but that's going to move to a place that's a lot more honest," Malarkey previously told TVLine about Enzo and Bonnie's romance.

Meanwhile, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 premieres on Oct. 21 on The CW. It will be the show's final season.
