Apple still has not announced the MacBook Pro 2016 release date or even if it does exist as there are rumors stating that they could be waiting for the new Intel Kaby Lake processors first.

The same processor is also expected to power Surface Pro 5 and even the rumored Surface Phone. Intel is expected to release the new processor later this year which means that the Apple MacBook Pro 2016 could also be revealed much later compared to the earlier estimates.

MacBook Pro 2016 Specs and Features

The new MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to have a small secondary OLED screen on top of its keyboard which will allow users to easily access app shortcuts and whatnot, University Herald has learned. It could also be where the Touch ID sensor will be located to save space on the new thinner and lighter laptop from Apple.

With the demise of the headphone jack in the iPhone 7, the laptop is also speculated to ditch the 3.5mm jack that everybody uses. There is no confirmation yet but it could follow the flagship smartphone's ways and also just resort to users using wireless EarPods for Apple to gain more sales.

Apple could use the Kaby Lake processor from Intel which means that the MacBook Pro 2016 release date could be pushed further back to the end of the year, Gamenguide reported. There are no reports on whether the Cupertino-based tech giant would also be using the upcoming AMD Zen chips for other variants of their MacBooks in 2017.

The MacBook Pro 2016 is also expected to have a variant where it would be support 4G LTE connections. This means that users will no longer have to scramble to find the nearest Wi-Fi hotspot if they want to connect to the Internet and check up on their social media accounts.

Apple will still need to announce the MacBook Pro 2016 and they are expected to sometime in October. The release date of the said laptop could be pushed back to the last quarter of the year or even during the Q1 2017 but that would be the least possible situation.
