While previous reports suggested that Apple would be dropping its MacBook Air lineup, rumors have surfaced online that avid fans will still lay their hands on the device. The Cupertino-based tech giant is set to hold an event in October, wherein it will display the MacBook Air 2016 among other devices.
Throughout the year, rumors that hinted at the possible demise of the MacBook Air seemed genuine, especially with much attention given to the MacBook Pro 2016. Even if the manufacturer was not ready to retire the Air laptop just yet, it appeared as if they were done updating it for the rest of the year.
Apple did a small upgrade to the laptop lineup earlier this, introducing 8 GB of RAM as the standard configuration for all 13-inch models, according to Apple official website. While that was a minor tweak, it also seemed good enough for the device that was almost being phased out.
Things have changed now with the upcoming products from Apple, such as a new iPad Pro, an improved iMac, a significantly revamped MacBook Pro, and a new MacBook Air. The updated MacBook Air 2016 will sport a new UB-C port and it could come out together with other aforementioned devices early in October, according to Bloomberg.
The imminent MacBook Air 2016 is said to feature a compact design and it would be thinner than its precursor. There is likelihood that Apple will introduce a 15-inch model, which is believed to replace the 11-inch MacBook Air.
With regard to the processor, some reports suggest that the upcoming laptop will run on the seventh-generation Intel's Kaby Lake chipset. However, other rumors indicate that the MacBook Air 2016 will feature Intel's Skylake processor. Fans should be patient to see what kind of processor will run on the upcoming laptop.
