Chris Jericho is currently in one of the best runs of his career despite not winning any championship since returning to the WWE at the start of 2016. However, the latest rumors imply that the Gift of Jericho will only last until October 30 at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

Y2J made his return on the January 4 episode of Monday Night Raw in a confrontation with The New Day. He then entered the 2016 Royal Rumble wherein he lasted for more than 50 minutes before going into a feud with A.J. Styles.

After a long story with Styles, Jericho was put in a program with Dean Ambrose that was highlighted with him getting slammed into hundreds of thumbtacks. Nonetheless, the 45-year-old has been the most entertaining character in wrestling with his new catchphrases such as "IT" and "Stupid Idiot."

According to Ringside News, the current plan for Jericho is to be involved in the WWE Universal Championship picture. He is rumored to be part of a Triple Threat Match at Hell in a Cell against Seth Rollins and his best friend and current champion, Kevin Owens.

It is also noted that it will Jericho's last WWE appearance for his current run since he will be recording a new studio album with his band Fozzy. After recording and subsequent release of the album, the band will surely be on tour and Jericho will not be able to wrestle.

However, there are conflicting reports regarding the future of The Ayatollah of Rock N' Rolla, per The Inquisitr. Earlier reports have stated that Jericho will wrestle until early 2017 and he could be gone after WrestleMania 33.

With Jericho currently on fire at the moment, it would be difficult for the WWE to cut ties with him. He is vital to the Owens-Rollins feud with Triple H not back from television just yet. Also, it would be a shame if he will miss WrestleMania 33 next year.

Nevertheless, these are just purely speculative at the moment and nothing has been confirmed. However, the WWE Universe should savor every moment Jericho is on television because his absence will be felt.

The 45-year-old superstar is a future Hall of Famer and he is considered as one of the greatest ever. His current work has been really entertaining despite portraying a heel character. Check out the video below to see a compilation of "Stupid Idiot" moments.
