"Criminal Minds" Season 12 premiere segment picks up from where the show left off in Season 11 finale. The show will see the BAU move forward with the investigation of fugitive, who escaped the prison at the end of the last season.

According to Spoiler TV's description for "Criminal Minds" Season 12 episode 1, the BAU will search for a killer who escaped the prison with 13 other convicts. The team will have a new agent join them in the task. Agent Luke Alvez, the new recruit from the FBI's Fugitive Task Force joins the BAU in their mission.

Meanwhile, fans know that Thomas Gibson, who plays the role of fan-favourite Aaron Hotchner, has been fired reportedly for his inappropriate behaviour on set. Speculations are Hotchner may or may not return for "Criminal Minds" Season 12 premiere.

Previously, TV Line reported that Gibson was fired and it was effective immediately. According to the website, the actor's character may not have a proper goodbye scene. Meanwhile, several media outlets are speculating how Hotchner's character will be written off the script. Will he die or quit BAU?
