It is official. Peter Rabbit is coming to the big screen as Columbia Pictures has collaborated with Frederick Warne & Co., to bring the new CGI "Petter Rabbit" movie to life.

"We at Penguin Random House UK are delighted to be working with Columbia Pictures," CEO Penguin Random House UK, Tom Weldon, said in a statement obtained by PR Newswire. "As custodians of Beatrix Potter's brand and legacy, we are excited about the opportunity this production will bring to engage a whole new audience with the world of Beatrix Potter and one of her best-loved characters, the mischievous Peter Rabbit."

The "Peter Rabbit" movie will be directed by Will Gluck, whose previous works include 2011's "Friends with Benefits" and the 2014 remake of "Annie." Both Animal Logic Entertainment's Zareh Nalbandian and Olive Bridge Entertainment's Will Gluck are attached to produce the "Peter Rabbit" film, with Dough Belgrad serving as Executive Producer.

CBS's "The Late Late Show" host James Corden has been set to voice the titular character, along with Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki. Actress Rose Byrne, 37, will assume the live-action role of Bea, Reuters reported.

The good news concurs with the 150th commemoration of the birth of author Beatrix Potter, whose "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" was first published in 1902. It was then trailed by 23 stories of including such characters as Mrs. Twiggy-Winkle, Squirrel Nutkin, and Jemima Puddle-Duck.

In-depth details about the live-action "Peter Rabbit" movie were kept under wraps. What is known is that the CGI film will reportedly be made at Animal Logic in Sydney with the support of the Australian Government through Screen Australia and Screen NSW and in a joint effort with Sony Pictures Animation.

With Lauren Abrahams overseeing the project for the studio, the production of the CGI movie is expected to commence in early 2017. "Peter Rabbit" movie is intended for worldwide release in April 2018.
