Apple is preparing to update its Mac line before the end of the year with a redesigned MacBook Pro, which has been rumored to be ready for launching in October.

Though Apple was silent about the timeline, it has been speculated that the tech giant may be working on the launch of the MacBook Pro 2016 and Retina MacBook Air along the iMac. Earlier this month, Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and the Apple Watch Series 2, a curious fan asked Tim Cook via email whether the company was moving away from the Mac line. The CEO responded and said, "I love the Mac and we are very committed to it. Stay tuned," BGR reported.

According to MacRumors, Apple is moving rapidly toward a release of the new MacBook Pro models. The company's current development work is on macOS 10.12.1 and focuses on developing the OS to support the updated hardware's new features. Those features are rumored to include Touch ID support, an OLED touch bar and "Polaris" graphics chips from AMD on the higher-end 15-inch models.

Apple may roll out one more beta version of macOS 10.12.1 for both developers and public beta testing early next week. By the end of that week, Apple's goal is to have finalized the software update so that it can be loaded onto the new hardware being produced.

On the other hand, the Retina MacBook Pro is alleged to have a thinner body, embedded with a functionality of Touch ID alongside touch panel. In addition, Thunderbolt 3, USB-C Ports and USB 3.1 support are also expected from the top-tier portable Apple machine.

At the supposed October event, the 21.5-inch 4K retina display iMac is also expected to be unveiled. The ultra-thin and all-in-one PC will have a 5120 x 2800 retina display and will be powered by 4.0 GHz Skylake processor. Also, AMD discrete graphics, 8GB of RAM and 2TB Fusion Drive will feature on the gadget. The PC will come in two models, one of 27-inch and the other 21.5-inch.

The 21.5-inch, 4K retina display iMac is regarded as the high-end among the two devices and its price will start at $1799.
