Is all hope lost for CBS' "Limitless" TV series? Although it has been confirmed that the network has not picked up the show for another season, fans are still hoping to see "Limitless" Season 2 in some way or form.

"Limitless" started out with a stellar track record, earning ratings high enough to push CBS to give it a full-season order; however, the Jake McDorman starrer didn't survive the long run in terms of ratings. The show's ratings began to take a dip in weeks that passed after its premiere, wherein even a Bradley Cooper cameo was not enough to revive the show.

Exective Producer Craig Sweeney announced through his official Twitter account that the show will not continue on any platform. However, it was reported subsequently that CBS was pitching the show to Amazon and Netflix. Both streaming service, unfortunately, declined to renew "Limitless," The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Without a television network to back up "Limitless" Season 2, Sweeney's plans could not come into fruition. Prior to the news that CBS has axed the program, Sweeney had shared his plans for the sophomore run, saying he's going to make changes to the show.

"So, we're going to make some changes to the show, but it will remain essentially - we do find a way for it to be Brian taking the NZT working with Rebecca and Boyle and a couple new members on the team, solving crimes and having fun a week-to-week basis," he told IGN.

Fans, however, are not giving up on the show. There's currently a petition to bring back the show on air through another network. There's also a new rumor that "Limitless" might resume in the future - a new trend amongst televisions of the past that are doing reboots and specials such as "Prison Break" and "Gilmore Girls."

Interestingly, "Limitless" Season 1 is now available for streaming on Netflix, so fans are hoping that the streaming service might change their mind soon about renewing the show.

"Limitless" Season 1 starred McDorman, Jennifer Carpenter, Hill Harper and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. It ran with 22 episodes, wherein the final episode aired on April 26, 2016.
