"Luke Cage" just debuted on Netflix, which means viewers are also close to seeing "The Defenders" assemble. Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg recently disclosed major updates on both "Jessica Jones" Season 2 and "The Defenders."

Right now, Rosenberg is working on "Jessica Jones" Season 2, which is expected to premiere after "The Defenders" makes its debut. As previously confirmed, "The Defenders" will bring together Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Matthew Murdock and Danny Rand in an Avengers-esque group of superheroes.

"We're going into our second season, like 'Daredevil' did, and there were a lot of growing pains when you're figuring it all out and now I feel like there's more of a feeling where we know how to do things so it's nice," Rosenberg told The Hollywood Reporter about working on the sophomore run of "Jessica Jones".

She also teased that there are new and surprising relationships in "Jessica Jones" Season 2.

As for "The Defenders," the project is being supervised by "Daredevil" showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie. Rosenberg gave props to Ramirez and Petrie, saying they're collaborative and respectful of the other showrunners handling each Marvel Netflix series.

"The whole thing has been incredibly collaborative. They've also been really respectful to all the other showrunners who have invented these characters and have grown attached to these characters," Rosenberg shared and added that they invite other showrunners to give their comments and ideas.

As the stories they tell are intertwined in more ways than one, the showrunners keep constant contact with one another.

TheWrap also reported that "The Defenders" has added Misty Knight to its lineup of heroes. The character is played by actress Simone Missick and she will make her debut on "Luke Cage."

Three "Daredevil" characters will also appear in "The Defenders," including Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple, Elden Henson's Foggy Nelson and Scott Glenn's Stick.

From "Jessica Jones," Eka Darville is reprising his role as Malcolm Ducasse and it is also likely that Carrie-Anne Moss' Jeri Hogarth will show up in "The Defenders."

"The Defenders" will debut on Netflix in 2017, while "Jessica Jones" Season 2 is expected to come out in 2018.
