A temporary custody deal was agreed between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt that involved counseling and visitation. He will continue to voluntarily undergo tests.
Multiple sources told People that the temporary plan was recommended by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services. The department made the recommendation under the Structured Decision Making Plan.
A source said that this is a completely voluntary agreement between the two. This is not an order from the authorities or a mandate of any kind. It is also not any determination of custody, the source said.
Currently, the couple's children will remain with Jolie at a rented house in the area of Los Angeles. The plan is in effect until Oct. 20.
Another source told the publication that the actor is fully cooperating with the investigation by the officials. The source also said that he is taking the matter very seriously.
Sources told TMZ that temporary physical custody of the six kids is included in the terms of the temporary agreement. Pitt will get visitation rights, but it will have some conditions.
When Pitt visits his children, he will come with a therapist present. This therapist will have the power to either allow him to have subsequent unmonitored visits. He can also insist on being present whenever he is around the children.
Another condition Pitt had to agree is to be under random drug or alcohol testing. In a previous report, Jolie believes that her ex-husband has issues with alcohol and weed. The publication's law enforcement sources said that the actor has been tested negative for drugs and alcohol.
The couple will each submit to individual counseling, which is another condition they agreed upon. Pitt, Angelina, and all of their children will also undergo family counseling together too.
The source said that Jolie only agreed with recommendation because she wanted to focus on healing her broken family and her children. The temporary agreement will only last for another three weeks. The DCFS could add new ground rules or they could also transfer this matter to the courts.
In other related news, Jolie has acquired the assistance of legal experts Pierce O'Donnell and Bert Fields. They will join famous celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser.
