This was not the first time E Sens had been convicted of marijuana usage. In 2011, the rapper was accused of using and in 2012, he was sentenced to one year and two months in prison, followed by two years of probation. He was arrested while he was on probation.

"The defendant [Kang Min Ho] admitted to all of the charges and was found guilty," OSEN quoted the department of justice as saying at the time. "He was on probation for the same crime when this recent incident occurred."

The department of justice added that the rapper's repeated offense while on probation should not be taken lightly. The rapper is said to be seemingly "unrepentant."

Sources close to E Sens told Nate News that after his release, the rapper will be living in the city of Daegu, South Korea's fourth largest city. The sources also told the publication that the artist currently has no intention to promote his music career.

After a successful career as an underground artist, E-Sens made his debut as a member of hip-hop duo Supreme Team in 2009 before furthering his career as a solo artist in 2013. While serving his sentence, he released the album "The Anecdote," which bagged both Album of the Year and Best Rap & Hip-Hop Album honors at the 2016 Korean Music Awards.
