One of the producers of a reality singing contest in China who fought over the title “2016 The Voice of China” may have lost the legal battle when the court favored Talpa Holding over Canxing Production.

Star China instead launched “Sing! China” over Zhejiang Satellite TV network in summer and just finished the first season with flying colors. It broke TV and online viewing records and topped the ratings for seven straight weeks, China Entertainment reported.

The reality singing competition to find China’s next music star got more than 30 percent national audience share, five times higher than the rating of the number two show on the same time slot, according to Star China. The company would sell the show’s format at the MIPCOM, the international TV market, on Oct. 17-20 in Cannes, France.

According to the South China Morning Post, the show got 37 billion views for the current season which has Jay Chou, Harlem Yu, Na Ying and Wang Feng as judges.

Unlike “The Voice” wherein the seats of the judges are turned back and they press a button to spin the judge’s chair 180 degrees and claim a contestant, in “Sing! China” the judges race in chariots to the stage to claim a contestant they want as part of their team.

“Sing! China’s” finals would be on Friday at the Beijing National Stadium. There are six finalists, Lee Pei Ling, Wang Chen Rui, Xu Song Yan, Chiang London hao, shum and yang mila, according to the show’s Facebook page. However, SCMP lists Nathan Hartono, a Singaporean, as one of the six finalists who uses his Chinese name Xiang Yang.
