After an emotional experience for FBI Agent Jennifer Jareau (J.J.) in CBS' "Criminal Minds" Season 12 episode 2, attention will shift on Interpol Agent Emily Prentiss's (Paget Brewster) return in episode 3. For Thomas Gibson as Behavioral Analysis Unit leader Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner, it was the last episode, which focused more on J.J. getting emotional after a case hit too close to home.

In the upcoming episode 3 titled "Taboo," Prentiss will return to the FBI to solve a case. She will reunite with her friends Dr. Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), J.J., Rossi (Joe Mantegna), and Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness). Brewster's return will be exciting for aficionados who have been clamoring for her comeback as Prentiss on the crime show.

Prentiss will seemingly be involved in solving a case where three women have mysteriously gone missing, according to Spoiler TV. The synopsis for the upcoming episode reveals that the team will find the bodies, wherein the unsub cut off his victims' limbs and hid them in layers of cement.

"Criminal Minds' Season 12 episode 3 promo shows Reid, who observes that the serial killer's victims have chemical burns. In the peek, Prentiss as well makes an intriguing observation - the unsub tries very hard to conceal the bodies to make it difficult for the FBI to find them.

Hotch will be on a special mission in the upcoming third episode. For now, it is not clear how "Criminal Minds" will eliminate this fan-favorite character, but he will eventually have to go.

Meanwhile, "Criminal Minds" showrunner Erica Messer told TV Guide that Prentiss and Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) will have a fun friendship after working on the case. Besides this being contrary to what the trailer suggested, it is clear that something happened on the field since latter told the former to keep what happened out there between them.

""Criminal Minds" Season 12 episode 3 is slated to air on Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. EDT on CBS. Watch the sneak peek below for more information on "Taboo."
