Korean singers have lately been breaking YouTube records. After “What U Need,” the new music video of Lay of boy band EXO got 1 million hits in less than 24 hours on Friday, on Sunday, BTS also broke an iTunes chart.

The “WINGS” album of the Korean boy band BTS topped the iTunes charts in more than 26 countries. At the same time, its new music video “Blood Sweat & Tears,” reached more than 3 million hits on YouTube. The album was released on midnight of Oct. 10.

Soompi reported that the title track of the album “Blood Sweat & Tears” was number 1 on the realtime popularity chart of QQMusic, the largest music site in China, while “WINGS” topped the site’s daily and weekly album sales charts.

“WINGS” was also number 1 on the charts in Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Laos, Latvia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United States and Vietnam.

As of 9:50 a.m., KST, less than 10 hours after the release of “Blood Sweat & Tears,” its views on YouTube reached 3 million hits. Latest count showed its hits had reached almost 6.7 million.

According to SBS, the song features the group’s trademark rap sound while they infused new synth and electronic influences. The music video intercuts between the boys who performed in a Victorian-styled mansion and some more surreal sequences which all showcase the album’s exploration of themes that revolved around Hermann Hesse’s novel “Demian.”
