J.K. Rowling revealed the history of "The Magical Congress of the United States of America" on Oct. 6, Thursday. It explores America's magical beginnings before the timeline of the upcoming film "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them."
Wizarding North America with MACUSA is the most recent and third installment of Rowling's "Magic in North America" series. MACUSA's history has famous leaders with the 12 American Aurors who were its law-enforcers, according to Pottermore.
The American equivalent of the Ministry of Magic described the founding of the secret government in 1693 after the Salem Witch trials. It then explores the moments that shaped the way it works throughout time. Also included were the relocations of the first law enforcement team, including the challenges it faced along the way.
The infamous 1777 debate "Country or Kind" was taken up in the MACUSA history. It was an event when the wizards opted not to fight with the No-Majs or American Muggles in the 1892 uprising in Washington and the Revolutionary War.
Rowling's story concluded with President Seraphina Picquery presiding MACUSA in New York in 1920. It was right in time for "Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them," a film that is an expansion of the wizarding world due for release in 3D and IMAX on Nov. 18.
The upcoming film about the world of wizards USA-style stars Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Jenn Murray, Gemma Chan, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Carmen Ejogo, Alison Sudol, Colin Farrell and Jon Voight. Also among the cast members is newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove.
The wizard movie by Warner Bros. Pictures is produced by David Heyman, the producer of all the eight "Harry Potter" features. Other producers are Rowling, Steve Kloves and Lionel Wigram who executive produced the last four installments of the "Harry Potter" franchise, Coming Soon reported. Rowling makes her screenwriting debut with the movie.
The story in "Fantastic Beasts" happens in 1926 when writer Newt Scamander (Redmayne) completed a trip around the globe to find and document magical creatures. When he arrived in New York for a stopover, he got into trouble because of a magical case and a No-Maj named Jacob. Some of his fantastic beasts also escaped which posed danger to the world.
