As rumors persist that the Surface Pro 5 release date will happen anytime soon, Microsoft has decided to offer discounts on specific models of the 2015 version - the Surface Pro 4. For a limited time, shoppers can realize savings of up to $150 when buying the 2-in-1 Windows 10 mobile device.

Described by Phone Arena as "a tablet that converts to a laptop by adding a keyboard cover," the Surface Pro 4 is ready to take home for as low as $750 or $150 less from the original sticker. The model that is on the sale tablet is powered by Intel Core m3 processing chip with 4GB of RAM and 128 of SSD storage.

But if the choice is the more powerful build with Intel Core i5 under the hood and pretty much the same hardware specifications as the Core m3 model, the cash damage is a bit higher at $900 or cheaper by a $100 from the current price level.

Phone Arena said that the same deal involving the SP4 is the third seen in the last 30 days, igniting rumors that the sequel could be touching down real soon. But the report said that holding out for the Surface Pro 5, thought to be more powerful and faster than the last build, might just prove a stretch so it's best to grab the Microsoft offer now.

While there were talks of a possible Surface Pro refresh happening before yearend, it's safer to assume that the next batch of Surface mobile devices will not unbox until next year, the report said.

And in a new report, Paul Thurrott claimed that while Microsoft is confirmed to hold a press briefing on October 26 none of the rumored Surface mobile devices will make an appearance. What will be presented instead is the desktop incarnation of the brand that Thurrott said will likely be called as the Surface All-in-One or AIO.

But that the end of the major hardware revelation as the well-known Windows blogger declared that "Microsoft will not refresh its flagship Surface tablets until Spring 2017. So we won't hear anything about these devices at the October event."

The upcoming event is mostly Windows-centric that anything about Surface is temporarily taking the backseat. "We will almost certainly see some new Windows 10 devices from other PC makers, plus news about Windows 10 on PC, Xbox One and HoloLens," Thurrott wrote.

But the possibility is there that the core features of both the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 or even the rumored Surface Phone will be previewed during the event as Thurrott is convinced that Microsoft will highlight the next version of Windows 10.

Reports said that the next big jump for Windows 10 is codenamed Redstone 2 and will be delivered in two installments that likely culminate with the unpacking of the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 in the second half of 2017.
