Lee Si-Young's sex tape became the hot topic of conversation last year after two reporters leaked a video claiming that the woman in the sex clip was none other than Lee. The two reporters have now been jailed for spreading fake rumors about the South Korean actress.
A newspaper reporter was sentenced to six months in prison, one-year probation and 200 hours of community service. The second person, a magazine reporter who obtained the information from the newspaper reporter and published the sex tape story, was handed down a one-year prison sentence, two-years of probation and 200 hours of community service, according to AllKPop.
In June 2015, Lee Si-Young grabbed headlines after she was accused of getting intimate in a sex tape that was being circulated on the web. Lee's agency allegedly forced her into making the racy video clip and that she attempted suicide once prosecutors started investigating the tape.
However, the "Killer Toon" actress has denied her involvement in the video. It turned out that the woman in the sex tape was not Lee, after which the 34-year-old decided to take legal action against the people responsible for spreading the malicious rumors.
Lee then filed a complaint in court, which prompted an investigation into the rumors. The proceedings went on for a whole year and the Seoul Central District Court finally sentenced the two reporters for spreading false information on Oct. 13, Thursday, Korea Times reported.
Meanwhile, four other people who played a part in the spreading of Lee's sex tape rumors were ordered to pay a fine of three million won ($2651). Lee currently stars in MBC's "Real Men" and also featured on KBS2's variety show "Cool Kiz on the Block."
