In a matter of days, fans will be able to see "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, the final season of the hit supernatural drama. However, fans are still uncertain whether or not Elena (Nina Dobrev) will return in Mystic Falls to meet a happy ending with one of the Salvatore brothers.

In "TVD" Season 8, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) are still under the spell of the evil vault creature, the monster that pushed them to kill a lot of people. Although the monster was able to manipulate their minds, it looks like it did not succeed in controlling their hearts.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, TVD boss Julie Plec teased Damon's dark fate in the final season. Damon and Enzo would remain as evil minions in which viewers have to find out who they are serving and for what reasons. Plec also mentioned that Season 8 will see a "strong romantic core" which could suggest that the two could only be saved by their loved ones.

There is a possibility that Elena's love for Damon is the only thing that could save him from the evil creature despite her slumber state. In early teasers of "TVD" Season 8, Enzo will do everything to be free by leaving a trail for Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) in order for her to find him.

As for Somerhalder, he has his own idea of how the final season is going to end, and it is not about a happy ending for "Delena." The actor thinks that it is not a good idea for Elena to still reunite with Damon.

"This poor young girl from this tiny town," Somerhalder told TVLine about Elena. "She lost everyone she's ever loved, she burned her house down, she's now in a box. These guys have ruined her life, yet everybody wants her to end up with one of them."

There has been no recent update about Dobrev's appearance in "TVD" Season 8 as of this date. In August, The CW president Mark Pedowitz admitted that they were negotiating with her for her appearance in the show's finale.

The new villain in the season's finale is Sybil, to be played by Nathalie Kelley. As described, Sybil is the "evil herself" who lured her victims for her own amusement and glorification. Although her evil character can scare everyone, she just wants one thing and that is to be loved.

"TVD" Season 8 will air Oct. 21, Friday at 8:00 p.m. on The CW. Check out its premiere episode "The Devil Trailer"
