After opening the season with two straight wins, Sampdoria is now on a six-game winless slide which included a four-game losing streak. The team is currently at the 15th spot of the league table, only two points above the bottom three relegation zone.

La Samp has settled for draws in their last two matches with the most recent one ending in a 1-1 tie with newly-promoted squad Delfino Pescara at the Adriatico Stadium last Saturday, via ESPN.

Head coach Marco Giampaolo's boys were a little lucky during the match as an own goal from Pescara defender Hugo Campagnaro broke the game's deadlock in the 12th minute, giving the visitors an early one-point lead.

Campagnaro redeemed himself only 11 minutes later as he found the equalizer with a close-range header in the 23rd, directing a cross by midfielder Alberto Aquilani past the gloves of Sampdoria shot-stopper Emiliano Viviano.

Sampdoria had a big break in the 45th when Pescara defender Andrea Coda was booked for a second yellow card and sent off before halftime.

However, I Blucerchiati was not able to take advantage of their 10-man opponents as both teams failed to score in the second half and settled for a share of a point in the overall standings.

Meanwhile, Genoa was also held to a goalless draw by bottom three team Empoli also at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday, as per SkySports.

It was the third drawn match by head coach Ivan Jurić's team in their last four outings as they remained unbeaten in the same period as well.

With the tie, I Rossoblu remained at the eighth place in the standings, tied on points with Sassuolo but has a superior goal difference.
