Many tech analysts believe the Valve will announce the sequel to "Half-Life 2" sometime this year with some pointing the Games Developer Conference to be the perfect stage to present it, according to Tech Times. The report added that if ever Valve releases an update to the widely used Source engine, there is a high possibility that a new game is under development.

"Half-Life 2" was released together with the Source engine. Therefore it is highly likely that the new "Half-Life" game will be released alongside the new Source engine. However, the biggest question is yet to be answered and that is whether or not Valve is developing a new engine.

Valve's involvement in virtual-reality could also a positive sign that the new "Half-Life" game will use this platform, according to BBC. The company has already announced its SteamVR headset and the Steam Machines will also be reintroduced in the upcoming GDC.

Another interesting speculation all over the internet is Valve's schedule for its presentation. The company is set to have its presentation on Mar. 3 at 3 pm. Many analysts concluded that Valve will unveil something big on the "third day" of the year's "third month" at "three in the afternoon." This led to the rumor that Valve is trolling the internet in its plans for the "third" game in the "Half-Life" series.

However, one important figure is missing on Valve's presentation and that is its big boss Gabe Newell.
