After operating for more than 13 years, Torrentz was shut down by its operators on Aug. 5. When American authorities seized the domain name on various torrent websites, torrentz.eu became the default domain of the site.

"Torrentz was a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines," a message on torrentz.eu reads. The verb "was" was originally "is."
