Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) dropped the price of both its Radeon RX 470 and Radeon RX 460 over the weekend. The price slash happened just days before the laucnh of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and GeForce GTX 1050 video card.

According to Digital Trends, both cards received a $10 reduction in their prices. Therefore, users can acquire the AMD Radeon RX 470 GB video card for just $169 from the original MSRP of $179 and the AMD Radeon RX 460 2 GB for $99, from the original MSRP of $109.

AMD, an American multinational semiconductor company, is said to be targetting Radeon RX 470 users who want premium HD gaming with the company optimizing the Radeon RX 460 for both high quality eSports and casual 1080p gaming.

According to Legit Reviews, Radeon RX 470 offers its users up to 30 percent better performance than other positioned cards. In addition, the card provides great features at a mainstream price such as acoustic control and up to 8GB of memory.

The new Radeon RX 460 features 1080p for gaming and future-proof with a 4GB option in addition to is offered by RX 470. The card also provides a sub-75W power footprint, and ends up offering leading performance/watt in its class.

The most important comparison of the new Radeon RX 470 and Radeon RX 460 is to the GTX 1050 and 1050Ti, which are priced at $109 and $139 respectively. The cards are close enough in price and performance that these numbers matter, and it is likely why AMD slashed a few dollars off the RX cards' price tags. However, these cards cannot be compared directly on every aspect.

These pricing revelations was as a result of a leak of a number of AMD slides by TechPowerUp, which showed its cards performing well in a number of different scenarios. One slide displayed RX 470 frame rates against Nvidia GTX 1050Ti and 960 OC cards, easily winning in games like "Dota 2," "Overwatch," "Total War: Warhammer," and "Doom."

The leak also highlighted the RX 470's power to offer Freesync and multi-GPU functionality, plus RX 460's ability to beat the GTX 1050 in a few select games. The new Radeon RX graphics cards come optimized for the phase of PC gaming with support for more features in DX12 and Vulkan.
