2016 is turning out to be a milestone year for the South Korean group BTS. The Kpop group is set to receive the prestigious Popular Culture Award, while the boy band's music video for "Dope" posted more than 100 million views on YouTube.

BTS was identified as one of the recipients of the Cultural Minister Award in the upcoming 2016 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Award ceremony. Organizers of the event unveiled its 2016 awardee list to local reporters on Oct. 25, Tuesday, that included BTS and other Kpop groups and Korean celebrities, Korea Herald reported.

The annual event honors talented artists and celebrities whose projects or activities contributed to the growth of Korea's arts scene and contemporary pop culture. Hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency including the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, more than 20 Korean stars, comedians, musicians and industry experts will be given special awards.

Apart from BTS, "Jealousy Incarnate" star and musical actor Jo Jung Suk, as well as seven other celebrities will also receive the prestigious Cultural Minister Award. Kpop group Shinee and Bigbang group member G-Dragon will also be honored with the Prime Minister's Award, along with six other celebrities.

The upcoming 2016 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Award ceremony is also set to hand out its Cultural Merit Award to "Lucky Romance" actress Kim Ji Min, veteran actor Nam Goong Won and four other celebrities. Meanwhile, "Descendants of the Sun" co-stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will be among the President's Award recipients, as well as the said KBS drama's writer Kim Eun Sook and four Korean artists.

In other news, BTS' music video for the track "Dope" recently reached an impressive viewership count on YouTube. The Kpop group's agency Big Hit Entertainment revealed the boy band's latest accomplishment to local reporters where the said music video broke through the 100 million view count mark, Yonhap News reported.

BTS released "Dope" in October 2015 and is one of the tracks included in the boy band's "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1" album. Watch the music video below:
