Little Mix's new breakup anthem "Shout Out to My Ex" is causing a lot of buzz for group member Perrie Edwards after a year of their controversial split with former One Direction member Zayn Malik.

Edwards and Malik broke off their engagement sometime in August 2015, wherein Edwards explicitly told the Independent that it was massively "stressful" to be left homeless after their breakup.

"After I split with my partner, out of the blue, I had nowhere to go, which was incredibly stressful. For a while I had no idea what to do," Edwards said.

Her fellow band mates offered Edwards a place for her to stay in the meantime; however, Edwards said that they didn't have much room and that she wasn't able to rent her own place because she had cats and dogs.

The Little Mix member was in America promoting "Black Magic" when the event happened. Her mother Debbie then got in touch with her manager Sam after growing worried for Edwards' mental state, E! News reported.

"I told her I was stressed because I didn't know what I should do about where to live once I got back to England," she says.

Her mother and her management team arranged for the singer to stay in the guest cottage of Richard Griffiths, owner of Modest Management, in which Perrie stayed for a good month and a half.

Perrie started viewing houses and eventually bought her own place, saying that she was initially terrified to sign the contract, but once she did, she felt "proud and independent."

There was no immediate respond from Malik's representative regarding the issue.

Meanwhile, Malik and Edwards' breakup is once again brought to the spotlight following the release of "Shout Out to My Ex." The lyrics of the song reportedly speak about the exes' breakup.  Malik's current girlfriend, Gigi Hadid, is rumored to have requested to speak to Edwards privately to ask her not to speak about the break up anymore.

"It was horrible, the worst time of my life. A four-year relationship, two-year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that," Edwards previously said about the split. "Even though things my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me...On the surface I was happy, but inside I felt broken."
