Blackberry has announced its latest iteration of Android-oriented smartphone, tagged as DTEK60, which is packed with impressive specs, particularly its rear-mounted fingerprint sensor that commits with the hardware's "root of trust." 

Like its predecessor DTEK50, the DTEK60 device has also been crafted by TCL, which left BlackBerry to administer tuning on the device's security features up to corporate level. Together with the latest fingerprint sensor, the new device also allows users to access the Android Pay.

In a statement through Android Authority, Blackberry emphasized the security features on the DTEK60 that is appropriate for businesses finding high-class security suite: "Our manufacturing process makes use of a unique technique known as the Hardware Root of Trust, which adds security keys to the chipsets inside the DTEK60 to prevent the device from being spoofed or counterfeited."

It added: "Our Secure Bootloader uses multi-stage verification to ensure that the Android OS hasn't been tampered with, in order to protect business data against hackers rooting the device."

As a high-notch security device, BlackBerry also protects all data within the DTEK60 with FIPS 140-2 encryption to make it more difficult for hackers to access.

According to Tech Times, The second Android phone is a little larger than the DTEK50, with a 5.5-inch QHD screen, and carries a dual-glass panel design with a metal frame against its ancestor's utilitarian finishes.

As for its internal chassis, the DTEK60 is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM. The phone comes with 32GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 2TB using a microSD card.

Along with its fingerprint sensor, the DTEK60 is packed with impressive accessories such as its 21-megapixel rear shooter coupled with an 8-megapixel front facing camera for selfies. Users can also expect decent usage time due to the phone's 3000mAH capacity battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, while carrying a USB Type-C and customizable side button. (TechTimes)

Reports suggest that the production of DTEK60 is part of a larger strategy deployed by BlackBerry into switching from a full hardware manufacturer to a company that licenses its brand to third-party phone builders. The company suggests its lesser involvement in choosing the technical specs and design features of its future mobile phones licensed to other manufacturers.

Starting on Oct. 25, the unlocked version of DTEK60 can be purchased directly from BlackBerry's website for $499.
